About the album:
‘Becoming’ explores identity and growth, and the idea of a self. It is a personal journey through finding yourself in melancholy and grief. It is asking what the self is and what it could be. It is looking through a self that wants to communicate suppressed emotional longings.

The album examines finding yourself in the midst of the fog around you. Existing and living and creating alongside everything, despite everything. Finding comfort in who you have become beyond the flesh, for the desire to not be defined by symptoms, by what society speaks of you, what your surroundings have become. Coming to yourself, as they call it is what is ‘Becoming’.

"Laconic synth gestures float against a strident current on “You’re Only Breaking Down,” Taranoya’s voice lifts the entire performance. Imbued with cautious optimism that the journey ahead is doable, the swirling melodies rise and fall like sonic waves. There’s a simplicity involved that carries weight and holds an added importance. “Thinking About You” starts with a lethargic ache, but rises into the electronic clouds, confidently drifting through dissonant tonal passages. Everything in Taraynoya’s soundworld is painted with a placid haze."
